Hi All,
I am using a report text tool followed by a layout tool and render it in excel output.
When i apply border to the text in the layout tool i can see it in browse tool whereas same is not getting applied to the excel sheet.
Can someone tell if i am missing anything or it is not possible to do it ?
@Sattysats Can you post the workflow you are using? Or screenshots of your configs and the output you are getting? Very hard to troubleshoot without seeing the actual pieces you are working on.

@abacon please find the screenshot attached.
@Sattysats This is really odd. I am messing with a few different things and no border in the excel output. If you output to a PNG or PDF, it keeps the borders. I assume this has to go to an excel file?
In the meantime, I will keep messing with it to see. What is your end goal for this piece?

@abacon Yes it has to go to excel.
I am joining this to a table. the data in the report text help me to join with the table as merged sell. Something like I attached.
Column A is coming from Report Text. Column B & C coming from a table. So, i am joining Table with Report text and then render it to Excel.
Let me know if you have any other thought to get a merged cell of column A with borders.
@Sattysats Just got it. Don't use a Report text tool - use a text input, feed it into a Table tool and create a column rule to format the text how you want. In the table, go to default table settings>Table>Make sure Table border is marked yes. I didn't join it to your table but you have the process figured out it sounds like, what I listed answers your original question.
I am attaching an example workflow for you to use.
Let me know how this goes.

@abacon Thanks for working on this. I think joining is the catch here. whatever we have given in the input text should join the existing table as a merged cell. Basically, Cell A1 & A2 should merge which is not happening with the table it occupies only A1. whereas Report text join as merged cell with no border.
@abacon please find the sample workflow attached.
@Sattysats Thank you for posting it.
I ran it through a bunch of tests and it does appear that the report text tool causes some issues with the rendering. I wasn't able to get it to your desired output. :/
