How can I I split a column that contains email addresses, followed by a '.' (period) followed by any combination of digits into two separate columns via regex?

So

joe@whitehouse.gov.593 to

joe@whitehouse.gov593

Sorry to ask but I've been breaking my head over this for the past two hours :(
