Hello Community.
I recently "upgraded" from Alteryx Designer 2022.1 (installed as user) to 2024.2 (installed as admin). At the moment I have both versions on my machine.
I have a number of workflows that make use of the sharepoint plugin. This plugin was installed separately from the original 2022.1 install.
The workflows were designed with 2022.1 and worked without fault.
Running these workflows in 2024.2 results in the following error:
"The tool installed in c:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Alteryx\Tools\SharePointFiles_v2.1.0_venv is using an out of date version of Python, 3.8. This version of Alteryx is using Python 3.10. SharePointFiles_v2.1.0_venv requires further action to restore function. Please goto https://help.alteryx.com/current/designer/upgrade-python for more information.".
The sharepoint plugin continues to work when I use the 2022.1 version. I am worried that if I install a different python version, and for some reason it doesnt work in 2024.2, I also loose function in 2022.1.
So my questions are:
1. Will a python upgrade for 2024.2 overwrite the python version installed for 2022.1?
2. Do I need to install a separate sharepoint plugin in 2024.2? And, would that also upgrade the python version (only for 2024.2)?
My biggest worry is that I end up with two non functional Designer versions with regards to the sharepoint plugin. It was a long and difficult path to get sharepoint to work on 2022.1. If I need to provide further details, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi @franc1s the python upgrade starting in 24.1 is associated with that Designer version. You will need to use a current version of the tool in order to run on that new new version. But you will be able to right click the tool and choose the tool version compatible with the version of Designer you are using. So if you're in 24.2 you can choose the current version of the tool. If you open the workflow in the older version you can choose the older version of the tool.
Besides the version of the connector tool you're using you shouldn't experience any difference in the run of the workflows.
Hope that help!
