So I was trying to download a new tool from the Alteryx Marketplace and kept receiving an error message saying "Couldn't Download File - Network Issue". After looking around I saw that the file would start downloading just fine, it had been renamed to filename.yxi.crdownload and towards the end of the down load the speed would throttle back until it hit 0b/s. The file would then auto-delete itself and my error message would be present in the Edge/Chrome download tool.
.YXI file extensions are not something that are widely used so it appears that an administrator needed to make policy exceptions in both Cortex XDR and ZScaler before this would stop the scan from auto-deleting files.
The error message alone throws off the Tier 1 support as they have you checking your WiFi connections. I know security is important, but when you have so many layers you can't functionally work to just download a file I feel like we have fallen off the slippery slope. I just wanted to get this out there because there is nothing wrong with the Alteryx site, your PC or your network most likely. For me it can be weeks to months to try to get someone to fix the policy as these teams are kept in the shadows 😁
If this can speed up the next person's fix I'll feel like it was worth typing this out.
HACK:
You can initiate the download and then proceed to open your "download" directory and see the file filename.yxi.crdownload. If you can do a copy/paste as your network speed throttles down the file is actually downloaded and just being scanned. Copy/paste and rename the file to remove the .crdownload file and you can work around this. There is no way this is acceptable for an entire team of people, but it can work in a pinch. Obviously you are doing this from a trusted source.
Thanks for sharing, i'm sure it'll be useful for someone, somewhere along the way!
Good to know this! Thanks for sharing
