Alteryx Advanced Join not allowing connections

Hi Guys,

I am struggling to connect to the Advanced Join.

The connectors on the advanced join are showing in green or blue (Sorry colour blind) not sure if this is highlighting an issue.

I appreciate the error in the box - but I cannot choose the fields until my data is connected.

Can anyone help on this?

What tools are you trying to connect to it? As far as I'm aware (others may correct me on this) only other In-Database tools can connect to it, i.e you cannot connect a standard Text Input or Input Data tool as examples.

Hi David,

I have the input dataset then it goes through a select and then there are some formulas done on this. I am trying to connect after the formulas but I could do this at any point really. The other dataset goes through all sorts of joins and formulas plus aggregations before the join.

What I am trying to do is Join one dataset on a material code within a date range - if I cannot use the above tool what other options do you know of any other options?

Do you mind sharing a screenshot of your workflow, or a subset of it showing the tools in question?

I think you are using the wrong tool - as @davidskaife mentioned that's an In-DB tool. It only works for datasets on THE SAME db. If you are connecting on canvas data (data read into Alteryx) look for the purple join tool. There is no out of the box "Advanced Join" tool - just Join, Join Multiple or Join In-DB.
