Hi Community,
Can anyone assist , if we just need to upgrade to Alteryx Admin designer new version , as we do not have any server with us , just an Alteryx Admin designer license. What are the steps involved, do we require any backup or not in this case .
Version working : 2019.3.5
Thanks
Hi @dikshit_luthra with Alteryx Designer you can install a non-admin and admin version on your machine meaning you have two versions. Therefore you can install a more recent version and keep the current version in your organisation and can test if there any issues. Your licence key you have already will work, on non-admin and admin on your machine. This link talks about the difference between the version
Hi JosephSerpis
To be more specific
1. Currently working on Designer Admin 2019 , and this is used by many persons in team.
And,
you are saying to install non-admin new version instead of admin one. (why so ?)
Also, if I install new admin version it will replace the previous one ?
and if I install non-admin , the previous admin will be present as well .. Am I correct ?
Thanks
.
@carlosteixeira .. kindly help clear , admin or non -admin .
Whatever - for everyone it's the same process
Hi @dikshit_luthra your assumptions are correct i'm saying install a non-admin version that way you can keep the 2019 version. If you install the admin version it will automatically uninstall the 2019 version.
Hi JosephSerpis
Thanks for your input
Just : one question: like Iog in with my credentials and install the latest non-admin version, will everyone be able to see it .??
Non-Admin Installation:
Only applies to the user who installed Alteryx.
Admin Installation:
Use the admin installations if you are distributing Alteryx through an IT installation
Hi @dikshit_luthra the link I shared goes into this in more detail.
However if you have to certify a software for your organstion and your IT deploys these certfied software then typically dosen't really matter as your installing the software on that users machine for that users to access it. I've seen organistion deploy both admin and non-admin via a model like this from a central IT location.
I have the admin rights, and I[ll be deploying it on the VM, which everyone accesses with their credentials, for an organisation.
My plan is as you suggested,
PLAN:
Currently working On admin 2019.
Let us install latest non-admin version, so we now have both admin and non-admin.
Check our workflows with latest version
and after some time, replace latest admin one with previous , so that if something goes wrong, we still have non-admin.
