According to the image below, I should be getting those results from my attached sample...but I don't.
What am I missing?

Switch the data type to double in the select tool, leave the rest and it will fix it. I don't know why this is the case but that fixed the issue for me.

I had that originally, and got this error...tried again for the heck of it, same error...
Ok, very odd...took that piece into a brand-new workflow and it worked...what the heck...
Did you change it to double in the select tool before the formula? Leave everything else as you had it but change Select (3) to show the amount field as double.
I did...I got it to work only by creating a new column versus keeping the same column selected (which I had actually done in my sample workflow attached...so that makes sense).
All set now...thank you!
