NEED HELP: Saving desktop workflow to cloud does not work

We recently got alteryx one cloud and I want to add all our files into the cloud so we can use them. They were all built on desktop and stored on a computer. When I try to save as alteryx one cloud it says "user not have create privilege on desktop workflow". I checked all user permission settings and couldn't find anything that shows why I wouldn't be able to do it. Any guidance is much appreciated - thank you!

You can’t save .yxmd files to Alteryx Cloud and use them there - you have to rebuild Desktop workflows in cloud

Thanks for your quick reply. Got it. That makes things challenging... so what is the point of being able to save to cloud from desktop?

Hi @Lancefrazer,
The specific product to run Desktop workflows on the cloud is Cloud Execution for Desktop it must be enabled in your cloud console. Given you have AlteryxOne you are very likely able to use this product, you just have to verify that it is enabled, it is not enabled by default.

In addition you must have the "Cloud Execution for Desktop Creator" role assigned to your user account

I encourage you to submit a support ticket as knowing your entitlements and CEFD activation state we could give you a faster answer and assistance.

That was the original idea as I use a mac and have a shared PC to run alteryx. Seems like I would have to rebuild the workflows in cloud to use and run them on my mac via cloud.

That is currently correct - if you have CEFD available as @c-lopez mentioned, then you can use that instead. But this is unlikely in my opinion so rebuilding would be the path forward.

Sorry, but this is a VERY BAD issue to identify after Altx One was sold (and at a huge cost premium!), and the solution is to rebuild flows in a Cloud product that does not have the same features/functions (many are missing) or navigation, is not scalable. Most Altx users have a large investment in the development and testing of existing flows, and to just say "rebuilding all your flows in Designer Cloud is the path forward" is extremely frustrating!

Additionally, the flaw with CEFD is that in order to migrate your flow to the cloud and be able to use it in CEFD, all of your inputs and outputs will be broken (assuming your file locations are all local or company network vs cloud already) and you can't rebuild the connections on the flow once it is in the cloud. So how are you supposed to change all of the source data connections and output file locations when 1. those new cloud connections don't exist on Designer Desktop to test them before saving the flow to CEFD and 2. you can't make the change after the flow is saved to cloud/CEFD. So how is one to migrate a flow to CEFD for use with the rest of AO products (AAI, Automation, etc.)? If I am doing something incorrect in trying to get my flows to CEFD, please let me know, but I haven't been able to get/find an answer on how to make this migration.
