When I have a URL that is not valid, it won't be flagged as invalid URL. For example, if I have http://ww.linux.org instead of http://www.linux.org it won't be marked as invalid

Our URL validation is based on whether or not the URL is valid per RFC 1736 (https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1736)
The leading www is not a requirement but a common practice. In reality any naming scheme that is used would be a valid URL as long as it is conform to the standard. For example http://wwww.microsoft.com or http://nowhere.at.microsoft.com
If I understand the ultimate goal correctly, it would be to validate whether or not the URL is actually in existence.
A workaround within the Trifacta Enterprise product would be to create a User Defined Function (UDF) that does a nslookup, or ping the URL for existence.
