We use Connect widely among hundreds of users. During a lot of concurrent sessions Connect begin to work slow and unstable.

It is nice to have high workload detection - to warn users about potential problems/instability/slow response (either by email or via some banner at the Home page).

Please add possibility to sort and filter by any field in any asset, which has internal table. For example - column list in table, table list in schema. Or in "Used in " widget. as for now - sort operation is only applicable for name field. it is not convenient for long lists.

Hello Alteryx team,

would it be possible to include a switch between All Projects and Top-Level Projects views when looking on a Tableau site in Alteryx Connect?

For many users, the navigation in Tableau is through the 'Explore' tab and then Top-Level Projects view rather than All Projects. This reveals the real tree structure of the specific Tableau site. In Alteryx Connect, currently, there are always all projects listed when looking at a specific site, so also sub-projects.

The hierarchical structure is already brought in, when opening a workbook, the route includes both projects and sub-projects. The idea is that there would be a switch between the 2 views when looking at a site.

Thank you very much for considering this idea.

Jan Laznicka

Hi Alteryx team,

Currently, there is a possibility to 'bulk certify' assets from the front-end using the Bulk operations functionality. Would it be possible to add also the 'bulk ownership' assignment feature?

We are aware that it is possible to assign owners using the Excel bulk upload, however, for a lot of users it is much more convenient and straightforward to do it directly from the front-end application.

This would really simplify the governance of assets in a large source systems like SAP HANAs, where certain users own large amount assets. It would enable data stewards to filter the respective assets using the built-in search functionality and assign the owners for the filtered subsets.

Hi Alteryx,

we have noticed that when drilling up/down in the "all mode" in Nexus, it is not possible to see all subsequent relations for assets related to the object, where Nexus was opened.

For example, when opening the Nexus view on a business term:

JanLaznicka_0-1580215633414.png

We are unable to drill into the outgoing relationships for the highlighted Tableau dashboard, the only relation we see is its parent.

Would it be possible to show all relations when drilling up/down in the Nexus view?

Thank you very much.

Hi Alteryx team,

Would it be possible to include the "Status" column in all applicable asset lists? Currently, when looking at Tables in SAP HANA, there is a "Status" column containing the certification states. But for example for Views, though certifiable, there is no "Status" column in the list. Applying the same column structure could simplify navigation in the system and also help with operations such as bulk certification, where a user needs to select only assets in the same certification state.

Thank you.

Hi Alteryx team,

Currently, there is the Open button functionality for opening the Tableau projects, workbooks and worksheets. While I understand you may be relying on Tableau API, would it be possible to implement the Open button for Tableau data sources is well?

The idea is that when you click Open in Connect, you will be taken into the Tableau data source or possibly into a new workbook which is connected to this Tableau data source.

Thank you,

Jan

Hi Alteryx,

We have noticed that the sequence of objects in the Nexus diagram is not unified for different modes. For example, for user defined references the sequence in the „Joins“ mode is different from the lineage displayed in „All“ mode. The same stands for lineage, the arrows are often pointing in the opposite direction than in the “All” mode.

Would it be possible to unify the sequences of objects in the Nexus view?

I understand that the “All” mode just lists all relations without the actual sequence, but this is quite confusing for the users and it may be more intuitive if the arrows always pointed the same way.

Alternatively, would it make sense to have the arrows on both sides for user defined references?

Thank you.

Hi Alteryx,

In Connect, when navigating through different data sources, a different number of objects are shown in the default view. For example, for Hadoop we only see initial 5 tables in a schema (with an option to see around 35 more), for other data sources like SQL Server, it will show initial 50 or so with couple of hundreds more. The same applies to the glossary or reports – for each data asset type it differs.

In order to increase user experience, would it be possible to unify the number of objects displayed on a page in a default setting?

Thank you.

Hi Alteryx team,

apart from the current known issue of format of email notifications (which in some cases shows a code instead of a proper notification), can you work further to improve the visual of the email notifications?

Currently, the notifications do not contain any indication (information) that it is coming from Alteryx Connect so very frequently, it is even captured by the spam filters or users have no idea what they are receiving.

The expectation would be to include perhaps the Alteryx Connect logo, perhaps name of the instance or some other details, possibly even customizable by the administrator (to some extent only, obviously).

Thank you

Michal

We can tag all objects but when we want to find all the objects with a specific tag that is not possible.

In the advanced search it should be possible to search for all objects. with a specific tag.

The tag should be a part to the search boost.

Example. I have 10 tables that I tag "Finance". When users search for finance the tables should appear even though finance is not a part of the table name, column names or description

Hi Alteryx,

Currently, there is no way users get notified that more metadata/reports have been loaded in Connect. Would it be possible to enable notifications for these newly loaded assets? The idea would be that if e.g. somebody is an owner of a project (or any folder), he/she would be notified when a new dashboard (or any other object) within that project/folder is loaded.

Thank you.

Jan

Change localization from the system level to the user level. This allows select interface language individually for each user.

Some of our potential customers - multi-cultural companies would like to have this flexibility.

Hi Alteryx,

From 2019.2 version of Alteryx Connect, there is a new functionality of adding custom fields. However, right now, it is only possible to add plain text (text type) in there.

Would it be possible to add there also URLs (hyperlinks)? We want to add new custom fields with hyperlinks pointing to other Connect pages.

Thank you

Michal

Hello, for me it would be great if the Connect did not compile all the scripts after saving a single config file as its compicating me work with config files.

Hi,

I understand it is possible to integrate the users from active directory into Connect but there is no functionality to import actual user groups. Is that something that can be added to the roadmap?

Thanks

Michal

Alteryx notifies thumbs up but does not notify the owner of a thumbs down.... We think this makes sense to have as consistent so that the owner can follow up on issues with the asset, and/or have it removed.

When we were demo'd Alteryx Connect, I am positive that the person demonstrating said that users would be notified of @ mentions. Turns out this is not the case (https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Connect-Discussions/Tagging-people-in-comments-is-broken-in...)

Given that the Connect brochure promotes the "familiar social interactions" I find this super puzzling that tagging people in does not do what pretty much any other social tool does - let the person know that they have been tagged into the conversation.

A lot of information is not captured when colleagues run numerous SQL codes on server. Oracle, SQL Server, Azure and others...

Would there be a clever way of capturing and archiving all this queries run?

It may be wise to collect these for several reasons;

  1. SQL code profiling is an important matter especially for DB admins. You can see the most required tables and fields etc.
  2. Also have a grasp on most frequent and time consuming joins to enhance DB performance
  3. Figure the queries that can be replicated in Alteryx and deployed to a server so that no business user needs to run SQL code instead  they will be reverted to the gallery.

So found out a similar feature is now available in SQL Server 2016 -->  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/performance/monitoring-performance-by-usin...

Certified objects should appear in the top of any search.

Today it has no effect on the search if a object is certified. Certified objects should be boosted in the search.

In the administration console, Connect configuration, search boost it should be possible to ad weight to certified objects
