Welcome to the debut of Alteryx Community Highlights, an on-going series aimed at helping you make the most of your time in the community!

At Alteryx, we know that your time is your most valuable resource. While the community is bustling with fresh insights every day, it can be difficult to keep tabs on everything whilst simultaneously saving the world from data dragons (look it up. They’re real). Enter Community Highlights.

Each month, we’ll deliver a just the right size dose of the best community happenings so that you can keep a pulse on what’s hot, who’s in, and all of the latest trends.

Check out the first installment below and let us know what you think in the comments. The plan is to mix it up to keep things fresh and we’d love to hear what kind of content you’d find valuable.

Enjoy!

Never. Stop. Learning.

*All the training resources you need.

There’s an insane amount of opportunities for you to develop, what @JoeM refers to as, a dangerous knowledge of Alteryx.

Are there other Alteryx skills you’d like to put into practice? No problem. We’ve got you covered. You can browse all of the available challenges by difficulty and subject, right here.

Upcoming Live Training

The following live training sessions are a part of the Lunch & Learn series.

September 13th | Alteryx Essentials

Learn how Alteryx helps users of varying technical skill levels to cleanse, prep and transform data using the Favorites tools. These 15 tools are the core building blocks of any Alteryx workflow and will allow you to build useful production workflows.

September 14th | Parsing for Intermediate users

Take the next step with Alteryx and learn how to use some of our favorite tools for preparing and blending challenging data sources: Text to Columns, Dynamic Rename, and Multi-Row Formula.

September 20th | Alteryx for Excel Users

Has vlookup been your best friend? Are you a master of the ƒx button? Learn how to complete the same data lookup and manipulation tasks you've done in Excel in an Alteryx workflow.

September 21st | Spatial Analytics in Alteryx

Better understand how location and demographics play into your organization’s performance. Learn to leverage third-party datasets including TomTom and Experian to enrich your internal datasets.

If you missed a session or would like to revisit a prior one, all recordings are available on the Lunch & Learn series landing page.

*Accepted Solutions that caught our eye…

Here are a few of the solutions that stood out this past month:

As I perused our discussion boards looking for solutions to feature in the first Community highlights, it’s no surprise that @Joe_Mako's eloquently written responses stood out.

It’s not uncommon to see outpourings of gratitude, like the ones below, when coming across Joe’s contributions:

“…Wow! This is fantastic. It does exactly what I had envisioned. Alteryx is truly a gem. Thank you so much for your help! Both your workflow and explanations were easy to follow and understand.”

“BRILLIANT! Problem Solved. Thank you very much!”

Shout out to @YK_dup_378 and @ddiesel for sharing the love!

 Nuts & Bolts

*Alteryx in Practice. Noteworthy Knowledge Base Articles, Blog Posts + other pearls of wisdom.

Looking for a unique perspective of the Alteryx user? You may just find what you’re looking for on Engine Works!

  • You may have noticed an onslaught of blogs that dive into the mind of the Alteryx Developer. In fact, our Dev team has been blogging so much that we created a new SDK label, which makes it easier to discover gems like @RithiS’s recent blog introducing an exciting new scaffold generator designed to assist users interested in developing their own Alteryx tools. Find more developer content here.

From forum post to lasting asset

It’s poetic, don’t ya think?

Earlier in Q3, we took some time to clean-up our discussion boards. A large part of that process involved nominating accepted solutions for review and eventual Knowledge Base publication. Here are a few recent ones we think you’ll enjoy:

Major props to @jdunkerley79 and @danielbrun2 for their expert level contributions.

The Funnies

*Where we share the random, bizarre, and usually hilarious things that pop-up in our Community.

Experiencing The Thrill of SolvingExperiencing The Thrill of Solving

On a mission to find a mascot for the Alteryx Orlando User Group, @andrewdatakim asked members to share pictures of their pets wearing the fuzzy match bandana. A few months later, this gem from @SeanAdams popped up.  No explanation needed.

*Tips to help you make the most of your community experience.

Email Notification Settings

There’s a great deal of flexibility when it comes to managing community notifications. You can explore all of the options available to you, within your Notification Settings.

  1. To access these settings, click into the User Navigation dropdown Menu (Upper right hand corner of your screen)
  2. From here go to My Settings > Subscriptions & Notifications > Notification Settings.

If you don't know what you're subscribed to, and all you know is that you get a bunch of emails, I recommend reviewing your current subscriptions as a starting point. To view and manage your subscriptions follow these steps:

  1. From the Subscriptions & Notifications page, click My Subscriptions to see what you're signed up for (by default or otherwise).
  2. To delete a subscription, click the check box on the left. Note: If you click on the subscription itself, it will take you straight to the location of your subscription.
  3. Once all items you wish to delete are selected, expand the Email Subscription Options drop-down menu > Select Delete Selected Subscriptions.
