SOLVED

What type of link should I use in my 'Dataset Guide'?

Solution:

There are no restrictions on what you can link within the dataset guide. If the URL starts with ‘http’ you can put any URL as your dataset guide (GitHub, confluence, SharePoint, etc.). You can access your dataset guide link by clicking into the dataset on the top right corner of the page and it will show a link underneath your dataset name:

One consideration you may want to consider is the audience of your dataset and their accessibility to the chosen URL.  Choosing a link that users don't have access to will not be a good user experience.
