There are 4 distinct methods to uploading data into Auto Insights.
Each method has its own advantages and it is important for you to decide which of these methods align the best with your goals and processes.
The most robust and recommended method is to upload data through Designer. This allows the most control over datasets when it comes to data prep and transformation which is important in creating datasets that meet the data requirements of Auto Insights. And if you utilize Alteryx Server, automating data refreshes becomes even easier and reliable.
For those dealing with very large datasets, there can be an improvement in utilizing a direct database connection, but it does come with some drawbacks - such as lack of data prep and blend functionality (database needs to have Auto Insights ready data and structure) and additional steps with IT to whitelist the connection.
