With the North American fall season comes a lot of excitement at Alteryx; this is the time of year that a vast majority of our SparkED educators and learners are beginning new academic journeys to weave data analytics into the fabric of their curriculum and their studies.

For those of you that might not be aware, the SparkED education program was launched in May 2021 with a mission to democratize analytics by empowering every learner with the skills to question, understand and solve with data. With over 140,000 global learners across 850+ education institutions in 47 countries, we are on a mission to provide current and future learners with the tools to enable Analytics for All.

The upswell of interest in data analytics from educators, students, and independent learners is not surprising. A simple Indeed or LinkedIn search for “data analytics” or “Alteryx” will yield over 3 million results of open roles globally, across all lines of business, on any given day.

Digital transformation offers a meteoric need to skill the legions of people with strong data analytics capabilities. People need to be data literate and confident in their data skills, with a strong grasp of the basics of data, all the way to advanced analytics, and with the resources to help them progress on their learning journey.

As someone deeply involved in data and analytics for three decades, I have seen firsthand how learners thrive when given access to learning resources with supportive communities around them.

At Alteryx, we strongly believe that to be truly successful NOW, we need to create a robust strategic alignment between you, our users, our valued customers and partners, education institutions, and virtual learning organizations so that we all can nurture talent at all stages of their learning journey.

This is the reason for the SparkED Education Program.

For educators, this includes curriculum integration support, online teaching tools, optional instructor training, and this global community of 392K+ Alteryx users. For academic students and independent learners, this includes self-paced learning paths, including our new Data Essentials modules, scholarship opportunities, internships, and career mentoring. Additionally, interactive lessons, videos, and Weekly Challenges prepare all learners to take micro-credential and certification exams that will set them apart from the competition. All of this can be found in the SparkED space in the Alteryx Community.

Our intent is to ensure you have access to future employees now who can hit the ground running on Day 1, already knowing how to use the Alteryx Analytics Platform.

Here’s where you come in.

As Alteryx partners and users, you can help us take this program to the next level by creating a supportive ecosystem around these learners. Today, we want to provide you with a space in the form of a discussion thread for you to share with our educators and learners a little bit about your own journeys as data analytics professionals. We will be posting a new question each week over the next few weeks and are excited for you to share some of your experiences:

  • How did you first get interested in data analytics?
  • What educational pathway would you recommend to someone looking to pursue data analytics? What did that look like for you?
  • What does data analytics look like in your day-to-day job?
  • What advice would you give to someone who is about to embark on incorporating data analytics into their career?
  • What programs would you recommend learners check out to help them brush up on skills; What is most exciting about having data analytics skills these days?

Our learners are excited to hear from you and be inspired by you! I know I am constantly in awe of the amazing work our users do with the Alteryx platform, and I am so proud to watch as SparkED – along with all of you! – help drive economic opportunity for those looking to gain a competitive edge and more intentionally launch their careers.

Thank you so much for the support of this program and for helping us bridge the data analytics talent gap.
