The past few weeks have been filled with immense grief, sadness, and anger as the world mourns the horrific murder of George Floyd, and the countless others who lost their lives due to societal injustices. These acts inspired conversation, inspired action, inspired solving.
We believe that challenging times bring people together and our differences are what make us stronger. The Alter.Us program seeks to promote comprehensive diversity—including race, gender, religion, country of origin, sexual orientation (LGTBQ+), education, cognitive thinking, and background—and is committed to elevating the voices of our associates, customers, partners, and Community. Today and every day, we must listen to each other and have authentic, transparent conversations to ensure everyone has a seat at the table, no matter who they are.
Many of you expressed your desire to turn empathy into action. Last week, we shared our plan of action and commitment to change with our associates, and today, we are inviting you, our vocal and engaged Alteryx Community, to join us. Because, together we solve.
Alteryx For Good
Alter.Us and Alteryx For Good partnered to identify and support two nonprofit organizations, Equal Justice Initiative and Race Forward, as we believe their initiatives will drive meaningful change. We encourage associates, customers, partners, and our extended analytics community to join our efforts via our donation campaign and to learn more about these organizations. More information on these organizations can be found below:
- Donate to Equal Justice Initiative: The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) is committed to changing the narrative about race in America. Their mission is to end mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenge racial and economic injustice and to protect basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.
- Donate to Race Forward: Race Forward brings systemic analysis and an innovative approach to complex race issues to help people take effective action toward racial equity.
Together, we have a strong, shared voice in the fight to advance racial equity and inclusion throughout our communities, policies, institutions, and culture.
Alteryx Community
Our Alteryx Community is 150,000 members strong – people with passion and analytics expertise who want to leverage their skills to make an impact. Here are some ways that we are encouraging and enabling our Community to take action:
- Using Data to Seek Racial Justice and Transparency: The blog shares data-focused resources for those in our Community who want to unleash the power of data analytics, combined with human compassion and curiosity, to help affect change.
- Reflecting on race, data and our world is a public-facing discussion thread on which you're encouraged to participate and share your voice.
- Listen to the Alter Everything Podcast episode, Community Picks: Black Voices in Tech, and share your own recommendations by commenting in the show notes.
More Community projects are also underway, in support of our ACEs, global User Groups and other outlets. Be on the lookout for more announcements soon.
