Alteryx Community December Release

The last Community release of the decade came with several notable enhancements, including a refresh to the Academy landing page, miscellaneous bug fixes, and a new forum. Learn more about the Alteryx Community December 2019 Release (v19.10).

A NEW Introductions Forum

Getting to know your peers and networking with the right people provides some of the greatest value that we can all receive from a community like this. But it's hard to know who to connect with, unless you know who’s here. In an effort to provide a better experience, we transitioned what had become a very long 10+ page thread into its own dedicated Welcome & Introductions forum. Learn more about the new forum here and please take a moment to introduce yourself!

2019.4 | The latest & greatest

29 Ideas 2019.4_blog.png

Whether you prefer to see your data from a bird’s-eye view or to see every detail with a microscope, your journey to uncovering answers is entirely up to you. See more, see faster, and see the beauty of your data. Read @russell_christopher's latest blog post, 2019.4 YOU.VISION, to find out more about the eye-opening features you’ll love in 2019.4.

For us on the Community team, a major highlight of the 2019.4 release was that 29 of your ideas were included! Major shout out to @KylieF for leading the charge and collaborating with Alteryx Product Management to ensure the collective voice of our Community is heard. We’re only getting started and are excited to use the momentum gained this year to move forward and continue making progress in the coming year.

Never. Stop. Learning.

*Alteryx Academy. All the training resources you need.

As we grow our volume of training content, we want to empower you with learning experiences that are purposefully prescribed, hands-on, and relevant to your application. At Inspire Europe 2019, we announced the launch of our Getting Started Learning Path to guide your learning of the Alteryx Designer. Today, we are happy to announce that our Getting Started Learning Path has been updated and officially released to the public.

We're also thrilled to announce the introduction of two new learning paths!

Data Science Learning Path

If you’ve been reading the Data Science blog, you’ll know that Citizen Data Scientists are on the rise. You’ll also know that the term can mean wildly different things to different people. Ultimately, the field of Data Science covers a large number of areas that represent the future of analytics.

With that in mind, we have created a Data Science Learning Path to help you get started. The Learning Path currently focuses on Predictive Modeling and includes interactive lessons covering a variety of topics.

Server Admin Learning Path

We know that administering the Alteryx Server is no easy feat and, for those of you tasked with this responsibility, there’s a lot to grasp. From configuring the Alteryx Server to making decisions about scaling your Server implementation to administering the Alteryx Gallery, Server Admins play an important role in standing up, maintaining, and managing a Server instance to allow users in an organization unleash their analytic powers at scale.

Our Server Admin Learning Path sets the foundation for the information a Server Admin should know. Comprised of videos, quiz questions and links to helpful blogs written by Alteryx Server Subject Matter Experts.

Learn more about the new Academy resources here: New in Alteryx Academy: Learning Paths

New Interactive Lessons

Several new Predictive Modeling lessons were added to the Academy library and incorporated within the Data Science learning path.

Screen Shot 2019-12-26 at 3.39.13 PM.png

Whether you follow the prescribed path or complete lessons on an ad-hoc basis is ultimately up to you! The beauty of Alteryx Academy is that you have the freedom to choose how you approach your learning journey.

Kudos are in order...

Thank you for all your hard work in building out a comprehensive learning experience for Alteryx users across the globe! We look forward to seeing what's coming in 2020!

...I'm especially excited to see what's in store for the French, Spanish, and Portuguese communities (@MarieC@olacey@SylviaP, @FláviaB@StephV)!😉

Spoiler
Alteryx Academy is coming soon to the French, Spanish and Portuguese communities. Stay tuned!

Nuts & Bolts

EWDS-blogs.png*Alteryx in Practice. Noteworthy Tips & Tricks, blog/KB Articles + other pearls of wisdom.

Sportsing is a traditional part of the holidays. Bundle up in your favorite plaid flannel blanket with a cup of Irish coffee and head over the Engine Works blog. Test your rugby predictions against @LukeM's in Alteryx Predicts the Rugby World Cup – Knockout Rounds. Or use analytics to get the better of your friends in your Fantasy Premier League with @wdavis' macros in How to pick your Fantasy Premier League Team with Alteryx and Advanced Analytics.

Our top pick from the Data Science blog is from ACE Michael Barone, who presents a code-free and code-friendly exercise in a very approachable way. In Stop Being in de-NILE, @mbarone uses Alteryx and R to research and analyze the Nile River flow, finding the change-point and balancing the outputs before and after. See if you can replicate his results!

Finally, round out your year with some much appreciated Server deep dives. @DavidHa will walk you through Alteryx Server System Settings, Engine and Worker, in his two part series, complete with recommendations and best practices.

Happy Alteryx-ing!

New episodes | Alter Everything Podcast

It was a blow out couple of months for Alter Everything, full of unique episodes leading up to our 50th episode. Can you believe it?! There are 50 episodes of Alter Everything, and we’re' only just getting started. As we kick off 2020, now is your chance to let your voice be heard, and share what you'd like to hear on future episodes.

We kicked off November with an exclusive interview on Episode 46: Grand Prix Champion with @LordNeilLord. This legendary analytics competition at Inspire, features participants racing to solve challenges in Alteryx. Neil talked about his experience preparing for, competing in, and ultimately winning the title of Grand Prix Champion at Inspire London, 2019.

New York Times best selling author, Dr. Michio Kaku, sat down with guest host, Melissa Burroughs (@MelissaBu) for Episode 47, where she asked him his thoughts on the future of data and analytics jobs. As one of the most globally recognized figures in science today, he had some promising and inspiring predictions about what lies ahead for data scientists.

Episode 48: Diaries from Inspire London 2019, was a fun “flashback” episode where we took a look back at our Inspire London conference through the eyes of two attendees, Tina Diagne (@tina_diagne) from Paris, France, and Rafal Olbert (@rafalolbert) from Leeds, England. As it was Tina’s first time attending Inspire, she documented her goal of mastering RegEx, and shared her tips that she picked up along the way. Raf highlighted his key memories, from being on-stage during the keynote, to meeting some of his data heroes.

Episode 49: Building analytics communities featured guest host Cailin Swingle (@CailinS), joined by Dan Hare (@DanHare), founder of Continuum Consulting in Jersey, and Shaan Mistry (@ShaanM), Alteryx Product Manager of Technology Evangelism & Enablement. These three looked back on their Grand Prix adventure at Inspire 2018 in London, and discussed their experiences of driving analytics transformation at organizations.

To wrap up 2019, Episode 50: Math + Music featured Alteryx ACE Andy Uttley (@andyuttley), who took us on a journey through the correlations between math and music. Be sure to check out the show notes on this one - bonus features await!

We also held our 2020 Theme Music Contest, to highlight the incredible musical talent that lives out there on the Community. We asked Alter Everything listeners to compose original pieces of music that “captured the essence of Alter Everything,” and WOW, the listeners really delivered. We had some truly outstanding submissions that we can’t wait to share with you. Subscribe to Alter Everything on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Soundcloud, right here on Community, or your favorite podcast app, so that you can hear music from our talented Community on future episodes.

And hey - remember when we revamped the podcast album artwork at the beginning of 2019? Can you guess what we are featuring for 2020?

What do you think will be featured on the 2020 podcast album? What do you think will be featured on the 2020 podcast album?
