ToTheRescue.pngOne year ago, we set out on a mission to build a world-class community for Alteryx customers to come together, gain valuable insights, collaborate with peers, and innovate new solutions to complex analytical challenges. Today, you are experiencing the fruits of those efforts.

 

We’ve come a long way, and you may be wondering how we got here and where are we going.

 

 

 

2015: A Year of Firsts

 

One of the great things about launching a new community is all of the ‘firsts.’ Every time you turn around there is a new milestone, accomplishment, or fun happening to rally around.

 

So how did we do in 2015? Thanks to a groundswell of participation from users like you, we had an incredible first four months after launching in September:

 

  • 5,200 Posts (~43 Posts Per Day)
  • 3,400 Stars (~28 Posts Per Day)
  • 500 Solutions (~4 Solutions Per Day) that were viewed 38,500 times (~315 Views Per Day)

 

To put those numbers in perspective, each is significantly higher than the same measure for the previous two years in the first incarnation of the community (2013-2015). That’s a lot.

 

We also hosted our first Hangout and our first contest. Thanks to those that participated!

 

 

 

 

Experience Is and Will Always Be the Main Thing

 

Our goals for Alteryx Community are ambitious and far-reaching. We've made big bets based on experience and intuition regarding the future of community and the role it will play in the day-to-day lives of our customers, partners, employees, and beyond. To that end, we’ve made significant investments in three key areas – People, Content, and Technology.

Successful execution of our strategy ultimately means that we can deliver on the main thing: a delightful experience. What matters most is that the community serves its many purposes in both form and function consistent with the expectations and needs of our users. Our teams are working every day to evolve and improve the experience to be in line with those expectations.

 

If there’s something that you feel we could improve upon, let us know. We’re all ears!

 

 

It Starts at the Top 

 

At Alteryx, we’re extremely fortunate to have executive leadership that understands that to provide the best experience for you, community is a whole-company initiative. This means that we’re able to deliver on a greater number of programs that touch many parts of the organization. This is a critical component of your experience here.

Next time you see our CEO Dean Stoecker (perhaps at Inspire 2016), mention the community and watch his eyes light up with passion. The leadership team here gets it and fantastic things are happening as a result.

 

 

And Extends Throughout

 

Teams across Alteryx are bought-in and contributing to the community in amazing ways every day. From exciting new blog posts to responding to customer product feedback, we’re all hands on deck around here. Spend a few minutes in the community and chances are that you’ll run into plenty of great participation from our employees.

What you may not know is that we’re using the community internally as well for cross-functional communication, collaboration, and sharing. By living in it every day, we’re all gaining the same perspective and experience that you are. This process has led to several improvements already that benefit everyone. We’re all in this together.

If you’ve visited our LinkedIn, Twitter, or Facebook pages lately, you’ve probably noticed some big changes. We’re embarking on a new mission to serve you better wherever you may choose to follow us. Fresh industry content, customer spotlights, and a side of fun are on the menu.

We are very early in our efforts, but so far, the response has been great! Give us a follow, like, or comment if you like what you see. We’d love to hear your feedback as well so that we can tailor the experience in those channels over time.

 

 

2016: Expanding Always in All Ways

 

The amount of adoption, growth, and beautiful community interaction taking place impresses us daily. To match, we are planning, developing, and executing on strategic and tactical objectives at a torrid pace. Despite the sprint-like nature of our efforts, the team’s obsessive level of care and attention to detail are truly remarkable.

 

Look for new features, expanded gamification, increased mobile compatibility, and much more this year. We have some really awesome stuff in the labs that you’re going to absolutely love. I can’t say much more without getting into trouble with my team. 😉
