Nearly three years ago when version 2.0 of Alteryx Community was launched, the industry was squarely focused on data blending and advanced analytics, Alteryx was leading the way with Alteryx Designer and Alteryx Server, and Taylor Swift was dating Calvin Harris. Needless to say, things have changed a lot since then:

  • You contributed 88,000 Posts, 55,000 Stars, and 7,000 Accepted Solutions
  • You earned 67,302 badges
  • You shared 180 use cases, won 23 Excellence Awards, and donated over $100,000 to deserving charitable organizations
  • Alteryx Academy brought interactive lessons, live training, weekly challenges, and certification to the masses

With the launch of Alteryx Connect and Alteryx Promote to build out the modern end-to-end analytics platform and a thrilling new brand, it’s time once again for a major upgrade of the community. We’re proud to unveil an updated experience complete with more robust navigation, beautiful design touches, and even more ways for you to Alteryx.

Welcome to version 5.0 of Alteryx Community!

Structure

As a data worker, you know that the structure of your data is everything. Communities are no different, and that’s why we are re-aligning the underpinnings of the site to be in line with the Alteryx platform and the needs of community users.

Previously, the community was organized around popular interaction types – discussions, knowledge, and ideas. The challenge with that approach today is that it meant wading through a lot of content to find something for a specific piece of the platform.

Now, the primary taxonomy will center around the platform – Alteryx Connect, Alteryx Designer, Alteryx Server, and Alteryx Promote. Each of those areas will contain distinct discussion, knowledge, and ideas areas in addition to other helpful resources. So, if you’re coming to the site looking for a knowledge base article pertaining to a feature of Alteryx Server, the path to get there should be much smoother.

We’re also introducing three new areas that combine existing and exciting new content:

  • Getting Started – Information and resources to help you get the most out of the Alteryx platform and our Community
  • Culture & Events – Immerse yourself in data and analytics culture
  • Alter.Nation – Join the nation and get connected to Alteryx User Groups, the Women of Analytics, Developers, and more

There’s truly something for everyone!

Navigation

Great content deserves great navigation. We’ve built familiar, yet new navigational elements that present clear paths, establish context for visitors that come from external sources, and enable fluid movement throughout the site.

Simple lists of links are precise, but slower for viewers to orient to. So, we’re taking a much more visual approach to navigation by using size, color, and iconography to improve legibility, speed, and efficiency of navigation.

 New, bold styling.New, bold styling.

As you click around the site, the “what’s next” should be bigger, bolder, and more obvious than it was before. We’re emphasizing featured content, helpful resources, and ways to connect with likeminded individuals more than ever before.

Design

Speaking of bigger and bolder, you’ll also notice new colors, fonts, and emotion in our visual design language. The Alteryx community is full of wonderful, passionate people that are doing amazing things every day. We’re capturing that lighting, bottling it up, and presenting it to the world – it’s the thrill of solving!
