Hello,

I havent published a workflow to a server yet but been notified that I have district in alteryx server to publish workflows.

1) How do I publish a workflow to a district and schedule?

2) In the designer my workflows use oracle database and Excel files as input so when I publish how are the inputs handled?

3) My workflow outputs are basically inputs for tableau and powerbi, how are the outputs handled?

Any videos in this community that would help?

Hi @Yuri24 ,

Districts in alteryx are just a way to group workflows that have already been shared or published (https://help.alteryx.com/current/server/districts)

When you were onboarded to the Alteryx Gallery(Server) you must have been assigned a Studio. This is a subscription you have access to on the server, and this is where you would publish your workflows.

1) How do I publish a workflow to a district and schedule?

Workflows can be published from the designer to the Studio on the Server. They are then schedule using the Server User Interface. (https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Server-Discussions/how-to-upload-Workflow-to-my-company-s-Server/td-p/514326)

2) In the designer my workflows use oracle database and Excel files as input so when I publish how are the inputs handled?

For an oracle database connection you would need to create the same connection on the Alteryx Server too. This can be done in two ways:- Connection on the gallery interface, Connection on the server machine. (https://help.alteryx.com/current/server/data-connections).

For the excel files you can package it along with the workflow when publishing.(https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Server-Knowledge-Base/Assets-and-Packaging-Workflows/ta-p/42232)

Are you currently publishing to the Tableau server as a TDE?(https://help.alteryx.com/current/designer/publish-tableau-server-tool)

Just to add that if you create the Data Connection in the Server, that connection should be type = 'system'

Another advise is to publish output to Tableau using .hyper formats.
