Good evening everyone. Was hoping i could get ideas, or maybe steer me in the right direction, on how to build the below (see screenshot).

I have a numeric field called AMOUNT and i need to be able to create a new field that spells out whatever is in the AMOUNT field.

Is there a tool that will do that? Asked Chatgpt and it told me i need to build a macro, but i'm not the best at building macros. Let me know if anyone has ideas.

I have an input tool connection to a third party SQL database. It contains roughly 100 tables with various fields unique to each. I'm trying to connect to the database then create a list of the table names and fields to generate a sort of data dictionary. The third party adds tables and fields regularly, so I need it to be dynamic and pick up the updates vs a excel file they send me once in a blue moon.

What tool, or combination of tools would I use to generate a list of tables and fields in each table?

I would like this process to change the Year to what the user inputs (2026 to 2025). I can't figure out how to do it.

I am trying to take a list of dates in a text input tool and compare them to the current date using the test tool. If the current date matches a date in the text input tool, then the test should pass but if not then fail. Apparently the test tool does not work that way. If there is a non-match then it fails whether there is a match or not.

My question is, is there a way to accomplish this? Here's a partial screenshot of what I have.

I am trying to read in some iqmsg files in Alteryx to do some analysis on these log files, however Alteryx does not seem to support this format. The files are big, and I wonder if it's possible to read in a iqmsg file in Alteryx.

I have a batch macro that opens multiple Excel files since the schema changes. However, at times there will be a file that is corrupted and the macro doesn't work. I found online a Python script that would identify the files whose Error Message says "File is Not a Zip File". I was planning on filtering those files dynamically so that I don't have to pull the workflow out of production whenever there's a new corrupted file. 

On Picture 1, I have the error message. Plus my attempt to use the Python tool which identifies the corrupted files, but somehow is unable to filter those files out. 

On Picture 2 is just my batch macro. I'm thinking adding the Python tool and filter here would solve the issue. But I don't know how to put it all together. 

How would I configure the batch macro for this additional step to check if a file is corrupt or not? Any ideas on how to solve this issue? 

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I have excel which contains multiple sheets, each sheet can contain multiple tables. There is no defined boundaries for tables. Subsequent files may have tables with different columns at different places. I am not looking for a solution that is static (file to file). I am  looking for something which can identify the boundaries and extract the tables. Can this ETL pipeline be created in Alteryx?

I have a flow that extracts data from SP.  When there is data, there is no issue, but when there is no data, it cannot produce a table.  How can I trick Alteryx to do so?  Note: I cannot add a dummy row in SP.

I'm in IT and I have a user having issues with Alteryx. I've copied/pasted what he wrote on the ticket.

I am trying to see if there is a contact or if someone is able to guide me on how I can resolve an Alteryx error. Typically, I just drop a new file every quarter into the input folder and should be able to run alteryx with no issues. It seems that it is still trying to view last quarters documents even though it is not in the inputs folder.

Basically instead of running the new file it attempts to run the older file and errors out as it keeps trying to run the old file and not the new one.

Example -

Old file named Report25 is replaced by Report26 but when user attempts to run Alteryx it keeps trying to run the old file Report25 and not Report26.

I have no documentation on Alteryx and no one here has any knowledge of this application. Since I'm in IT it falls to me to try and resolve this issue. I'd appreciate any help.

I got an issue when importing txt file into Alteryx.

My column got (and required) 8 characters. For those rows not having this value, it contains 8 whitespaces. However, when I imported the file into Alteryx, choosing delimiters, it automatically removed the space, leaving these values blank. The expected outcome is a value with 8 whitespaces.

Are there any ways to fix this? Thanks in advance

I keep getting the following error when I try and change the connection in my input data tool to a new excel file: "This action will remove your current tool configuration.  Do you want to proceed?".  I used to be able to maintain my connection settings, but ever since the new update, I keep getting this warning.  Is there a way to maintain my input data tool settings (ie. start data import on line) when I change the excel file?  TIA!

Has anyone tried importing via the sharepoint connector:

Excel worksheet with a sheet name and range defined in the configuration

Multiple excel spreadsheets in folder with the same structure

Alteryx successfully imports each range from each file.

For the 1st file - appears in the table, duplicated for each file in the folder (meta data incorrectly assigned to the content in the range)

For the 2nd file - appears in table duplicated for each file apart from first

3rd - same but duplicated for 3rd and subsequent files etc...

So if I have 5 files, I get 5 lots of file 1 with the meta data of each file, 4 lots of file 2 with meta data of file 2-5 etc....

I'm new to Alteryx, I watched all the video and played around with it. When the Data Input is in a database format, the capabilities are clear to me. Where I'm confused is if I can use Alteryx when I have let say 2 input file with a known output format but where the input is now a a database format. I have attached 2 sample input and the desire output. Wondering if this is something I can automate with Alteryx.

I am running a flow with Dynamic Input, and our files - stored on a central cloud server - have very long file path names.

We have control over some of the naming, and have been able to get the path lengths under 260, but this will be a recurring issue for us. I understand that Windows 10 removed the 260 character length limit, but it seems like it is still a part of Alteryx?

Has anyone found a longer term fix than manually shortening the file path names?

I am facing an issue in alteryx designer after using .xlsx file as input and selecting output FileName as field : Full Path, 

I'm not able to get complete path due to error mentioned in subject line. (Reason : File name is too long but I need to retain it as it is.)

I'm aware that taking .csv file as input might help solve this problem but wanted to know if there is any workaround in case file format is .xlsx.

My workflow needs to grab a folder on my computer in order to properly work. Since folder browse does not work in the server, I need to find a way to get the directory tool to update with the user input. I have tried using the below setup with the shown function and the workflow runs successfully however it only pulls the file that is selected in the file browse and nothing else. Any thoughts?

We've been struggling to get our SALT (Snowflake, Alteryx, Tableau) stack back up and running for 8 days now. Support is working on this, but it seems like there is a bug.

This all started when we upgraded Server to the most recent version. First the Snowflake supported driver stopped working. Then the Simba driver stopped working. 

Like a disease, all users with SALT stack workflows lost the ability to read data from and write data to Snowflake cloud. We cannot run on desktop designer or server.

We've rolled back our server upgrade, which solved nothing, and now I cannot publish to gallery, run WFs in gallery, or see gallery in anything but the Edge browser. 

We've reconfigured our credentials in DCM. That worked for exactly 1 run. Not doing that every day for 20 workflows.

Has anyone else had this issue? I find it hard to believe that we are the only SALT stack users who are having this issue.

I am using excelhoover macro that gives me consolidated data from a hundreds of excel files stored in a directory. I haven't had an issue with this so far till today when one of the input files in the directory has "Merge&Center" cells. Sample below. The Merged cell1 and merged cell2 in the below image of the file is causing an error. Is there a way for me to use Alteryx to unmerge these cells across all the files instead of manually unmerging them one at a time?

Hi - I am trying to pull in multiple excel files from the same folder (including sub folders). Each of the files have identical schema and the same sheet name, however, when I tried to do this, only 4 out of the 7 files pulled in. I assumed that there must be an issue with the schema in the files, however on checking them, they all seem consistent on initial viewing.

To test this, I exported each of the files and reviewed the columns and there seemed to be some inconsistencies in the formatting of some of the columns, but these were not consistent with the results, for example, the Date column was either text or Date, but I had a mix of files that were successful.

I then took the first row from each of the working files and created some test data and have attached an excel that shows the results.

The only thing I can see is that when I placed a select tool after the 'successful import' and then another when I pulled in the missing files, there was some differences in the column types. Would that be the issue and if so, do you know how I can fix this as these files are automatic and not something that would be controlable. I did try to change the format on the files that didn't pull in, but it did not appear to make any difference to my results.

On a regular basis I receive a zip file to a shared folder on a particular server.

I have an Alteryx workflow that gets that zip file and processes its three .xlsx files one at a time (using control containers and AMP) and deposits the processed files elsewhere.

My company also uses the Alteryx Gallery to schedule workflows to run regularly. I am doing that with the workflow in question.

Because I know when the file will be in the folder I can use the Gallery to schedule the workflow to run well after that time so that it can process and output the data correctly.

Here is the issue.

When the gallery tries to run the workflow then it fails with this error -

"<server filepath>...<gibberish>...<temp location>...\Zip_0_._<zip file name>_<gibberish>_<xlsx file name>.xlsx: The system cannot find the path specified. (3)"

Yet if I try to run the workflow from my desktop Alteryx Designer then it works just fine. The workflow runs complete and fully with no errors.

The fact that it runs fine from my desktop Alteryx (with identical file locations, names, workflow configurations, and everything else) implies that the issue is not with my workflow or any of the tools inside it.

Yet the fact that it runs just fine when I click "Run" on my desktop Alteryx would seem to indicate that the issue is not with Alteryx' permissions on the shared folder (which is the target of the "input" tools in the workflow).

So what could the issue possibly be?

Why would this workflow throw an error when run from the gallery (scheduled or manual) and yet not throw an error when it is run from my desktop?

I am trying to figure out a way to dynamically select a sheet that changes name each time the file is provided.  I have a file that is provided on a more or less weekly basis which has a sheet name that includes a partial date in the format of: Raw Data Till 19 Jan.  The portion after "Raw Data Till" changes based on the day that the file is provided, and since I don't want to have to manually select a new file and sheet each time a new file is provided, I am looking for a way to dynamically grab that sheet.  Right now I have the inputs coming in from a directory, but I am not opposed to using a wildcard to get the right file and sheet if that is needed.

I am currently experiencing an error in Alteryx Designer (v24.2). Every input/output data tool I use that accesses my (PostgreSQL) database gives the following errors:

Unexpected error while parsing ODBC column 1 description types:
Unexpected error while parsing ODBC column 2 description types:
...

repeated for however many columns are in the table.

This error only started occurring after I updated my PostgreSQL ODBC driver to the latest version (v17.00.00.04).

I could not find any instances of people having this error on the Alteryx community at all, but I did see that it was listed in more than one patch note as being fixed (such as https://help.alteryx.com/release-notes/en/release-notes/designer-release-notes/designer-2023-1-release-notes.html#idp112393 and https://help.alteryx.com/release-notes/en/release-notes/designer-release-notes/designer-2024-1-release-notes.html##).

It floods my output with error messages which is annoying, but everything appears to be working as usual, and the data is getting properly input/output to the database regardless of these errors.

I’ve been playing with it for about a day now, and nothing I can think of gets it to go away. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sometime the most basic things flummox me!! I have used this tool for years and it's in nearly every single one of our workflows but I'm stumped. For the template I'm linking in my Dynamic Input tool, I can see the data in my preview, but when I run the workflow, it's not pulling in. See screen shot. I think I've got the file extensions right, and I've tried it with "First Row Contains Data" checked and unchecked. I've tried it with "Start Data Import on Line" to '1' and '2' and no combo seems to work. I'm working with test data so my first row is the header/fields and I have only one row of test date on the second line. Help, please?

currently i pick latest file from sharepoint location and then paste it into email body. is there a way to do this using alteryx. please note that i dont have email tool and sharepoint tool access on alteryx in my organisation.

picking the latest file i have achieved in alteryx, but how to get the latest file(excel/csv) with its sharepoint link(the user may click on the link and the file opens) so i can paste it into the email body is where i am getting stuck. will appreciate any help.

on this attachment it has 2 tabs first year data for current year and second for next year (which is in next year).. on First tab data started from 2022 so if i use multi field formula then my year will start from 2022 but in next year my data will start from year 2023. so in next year multi field formula will missing 2022 and also 2027 will be unchecked. how can i resolve this issue. my project is on going so column for year will be change in every year. 

I searched for and read through several pages of questions regarding sharepoint access, but haven't found any sufficient information, and where there were links to SharePoint input tool information, those links were broken.

So here's my question - we are migrating company files from shared drives to SharePoint Online. This means that for some of our workflows we will need to access them directly from SharePoint online, or download them to share drives. -- Where can I find documentation on accessing excel, txt, and db files located on various SharePoint online internal company sites (one for each department)?

Is this even possible in the current version we have (x64 v2021.1.1.136 P4)

Any help appreciated!
