How to enable Output Preview in Workflow Results in Server UI

This article shows how to enable a preview of the workflow output in Server UI's Workflow Results page, when running a workflow or an Analytic App in Server. The Output Preview feature is currently limited to .yxdb and .pcxml file formats, so the goal is to configure the workflow or Analytic App to output files in these formats.
 

Prerequisites

 

• Alteryx Server
  • All versions
• Alteryx Designer
  • All versions

 

Procedure

 

1. Open the workflow or Analytic App in Designer.
2. Configure the output in one of the following ways:
   • Use an Output Data tool and configure the file format as '.yxdb'

   • Use a Render tool and configure the file format as '.pcxml'

3. If this is a workflow, skip to step 7. Otherwise, if this is an Analytic App, continue with steps 4 to 7.
4. Select View > Interface Designer.
5. In the Interface Designer window, click on the Properties icon, which appears as a gear.
6. Check 'On Success - Show Results to User'. In the same section, check the specific tools whose outputs you want displayed in Server UI after running the Analytic App.

7. Save the workflow or Analytic App back to Server.
