Run time

Hi, I am a new Alteryx user. I find the run time to be much longer than expected. If i run the same query in SQL or Tableau, it takes me much lesser time to accomplish the task. I thought Alteryx was a faster tool and can handle more complex volume of data.

I tried running a sample of 100 records. Even that takes a long time to complete. Any suggestions?

Inserting 100 rows and a select tool takes 0.2 seconds on my Alteryx Designer.

I have attached a workflow as an example, you can download and run, to help troubleshoot.
I am also happy to jump on a call and show you through the basics/look at your workflow with you, if you need.

Looking at the workflow I have sent:
I have a text input, Select tool, and a browse tool:

I hit run in the top right of my designer:

And the results window (at the bottom) shows me that it takes just 0.2 seconds to run:

I can click any of the nodes (highlighted yellow) of my workflow, to see the data at that stage in the results window. In this case i am viewing my 'browse' tool, which allows me to see all of my data:

Does this workflow run okay for you? Are you able to run it, let me know how long it takes to run, and see the results from the browse tool/tool nodes?

What are you trying to do with the data? What is in your workflow?

Are you able to attach your workflow? How long is it taking on your machine, vs what you would expect it to take?

I am a beginner, trying to create a workflow on the canvas by using the select tool and trying to clean up my data. If a sample of 100 records takes me a long time to run, it is difficult for me to understand the data or proceed to the next step. A sample of 100 takes me 2 minutes or less in tableau or SQL server. I don't see results in Alteryx even after a 15 minute wait... Not sure what i have to fix to make things work.
