Chained Apps broken on Server 2021.4

Question

Hey everyone,

yesterday, we upgrade to Alteryx 2021.4 and noticed some problems with (among others) Chained Apps on server.

We have some Chained Apps running on our server where you provide some information in the first app. The first app then does some work and writes a temporary output (e.g. .	emp_inputs.yxdb). This output is then used for setting up the Interface tools in the second app, e.g. to select some possible values for filters from a list in the UI.

Until now (we used 2021.2 previously), this worked without any issues. Since the update, however, the first app produces an output that I am shown as "Output Preview":

So, the second app is not started automatically and I don't see any option to start the second app.

In the settings for the first app, the option to show the outputs is deactivated. And both apps have been uploaded. Re-uploading the app from a local copy also produces the same results.

Was anyone else successful in using Chained Apps on Server 2021.4?

@patrick_digan Thanks! Didn't see this post before. That's too bad. Along with some even more critical issues, it looks like we're rolling back...

@chrisha several people in this thread are experiencing the same issue as you: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Server-Discussions/Chained-Apps-not-working-on-Server-since-update-to-2021-4/td-p/901245. It appears that something has changed with 21.4 and chained apps aren't currently working.
