New Instance of Alteryx Designer when opening files

Question

Does anybody know why sometimes when you open workflows directly from their folder directories, it opens them in the same instance of Alteryx Designer sometimes and opens a new instance of Alteryx at other times?

Ideally I would like them always to open in the same instance and I know the work around is to just open them from that instance, I just wondered if there was a reason why it was opening new instances.

I've just checked my settings and it seems it's already checked - so I'm not sure why it's often still opening up in different designer windows.

This is a setting you should be able to change. Go to the Options menu then select User Settings & Edit User Settings. Make sure this check box is checked:
