SOX compliance using Designer

Question

We are a publicly traded company and are interested in automating SOX processes in Alteryx. Most of the discussion we see is using Server for SOX compliant solutions; are there folks who have successfully used Alteryx Designer only (and not server) to get their SOX controls automated and would mind sharing the challenges and solutions regarding governance, change management and questions/concerns form their external auditors?
