convert field data before join

I would like to take the results of my Input Data and convert the data from one column. For example, Saint Louis University would be translated to SLU; the University of Missouri would be translated to MU. What is the best tool for this? Can I import a spreadsheet with the translations or do I need to create different formulas? Any help is appreciated! Thank you, in advance!

Using a FIND REPLACE tool, you can read a substitution list and get these normalized. You just need to have the translations. The tool is flexible enough to ignore capitalization too.
