When a workflow begins, send an email stating it has started

When a daily workflow starts, I would like to send an email to the group, notifying that the workflow has begun. I added an additional email tool to the start of the workflow, however, it does not send it until the entire workflow has completed. I could not find any settings to make this happen immediately. What is the best way to do this?

@cstafford I've never tried it before, but could you use an event set to before run?

As you've seen, the email tool only runs at the completion of the workflow.
