Excel File Open Error | Multiple users using the same file

Hi -

Is there a way to avoid the issue "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by antoher process." for an excel document?

Why can't alteryx access an excel file if another user has it open? does it not catche the data?

Hi @kw,

This issue is related to a "lock" that certain microsoft file types receive when they are opened. Alteryx cannot bypass this "lock" and the file must be closed in order to consume the data in the designer. Alteryx can read in "Read Only" versions of microsoft files when they are open due to the file being read only and no "lock" being applied.
