Dynamic summarize

Question

Hi - hoping someone might be able to suggest a dynamic way to update my workflow. I have built a model that is comparing details for up to 750 BUs which is working well except for the summarize tool. if there are new BUs the summarize needs to be updated to include them and if there is less the workflow errors due to BUs being missing. Can anyone recommend how I can fix this?

Depending on your summarize method as well, you could transpose on your BUs then crosstab back - this works well if you are doing the same aggregation (i.e. sum) for all BUs!

Are you summarizing by Grouping each BU?

Can you provide some sample data so we can see how you do the Summarizing?

It can be done with updating the Alteryx tool XML. Every tool has XML code behind it. You can copy the XML code and then use Formula tool to update it based on the new data. Then your Build a Batch Macro that will update your XML code.

In this way you will keep updating the Summarise tool based on the available fields.
