I wanted to share something I've been building that might be useful to others here working in audit, compliance, or financial crime.
A lot of organizations still screen their vendors against the OFAC SDN List manually in Excel — which tends to miss name variations, runs on stale data, and leaves no real audit trail. I put together an Alteryx workflow that handles the whole thing: pulls the live SDN List, cleans and standardizes vendor names, runs fuzzy matching (Jaro + Double Metaphone), and outputs a scored set of potential matches for review.
What started as a demo turned into a full hands-on session, so I'm running it as a free workshop on July 8th. Attendees build the workflow alongside me rather than just watching slides. It's aimed at internal auditors and compliance folks, but anyone curious about fuzzy matching, API downloads, or applying Alteryx to a real compliance problem is welcome.
A few details for anyone interested:
- Wednesday, July 8, 2026 · 11 AM Phoenix / 2 PM Eastern · virtual (Zoom)
- Free, and it carries 2.0 CPE credits in Auditing (NASBA Sponsor No. 120930) for those who need them
- No prior Alteryx experience required — if you can drag a tool onto the canvas, you're set
If it sounds useful, I'm glad to share the registration link — and happy to talk through any of the workflow design choices (the fuzzy match config, the Control Container sequencing, error handling) right here in the thread if anyone's curious.
