Over the past several years, organizations have consolidated more of their critical data into cloud data platforms — modernizing pipelines, centralizing operations, and scaling analytics across the enterprise. As that data grows in size and complexity, the demands on every part of the analytics ecosystem increase — especially on the connectors that move data between systems and workflows.
To meet this moment, we made a foundational investment and rebuilt our connector architectural framework from the ground up to support the higher data demands created by modern cloud architectures.
But we didn’t stop there. We also invested in creating a more seamless, consistent experience across the Alteryx One platform — simplifying everything from administration, authentication, and troubleshooting.
Today, we are excited to announce the General Availability of the first connectors built on this new architecture: Google Drive Connector Version 3.1 and Microsoft SharePoint Connector Version 3.1
They are just the beginning. Additional upgraded connectors are coming soon for technologies including Tableau, OneDrive, and Salesforce. More will continue to roll out throughout the year, extending these benefits across the platform.
Built for Larger, Cloud-Scale Datasets
As data is centralized on cloud platforms, datasets naturally expand. What once involved thousands of rows now often involves hundreds of thousands — or more. Connectors must keep pace with that growth to ensure analytics workflows remain efficient and reliable.
The new framework delivers significant performance gains, especially for large datasets.
Early preview customers reported improvements of up to 80x faster processing for datasets ≥ 1GB. One organization from our public preview program reported processing 100,000 rows of data in just 17 seconds. Workflows that previously took hours now complete in minutes. Our internal testing also showed 7x faster processing for Microsoft SharePoint and 13x faster processing for Google Drive across all dataset sizes. The connectors show high levels of scalability with improved performance across all dataset sizes – but the larger the dataset (≥ 1GB), the greater the gains.
That means analysts spend less time waiting and more time generating insight. Batch processes finish faster. SLAs are easier to meet. And your cloud data strategy delivers value without downstream friction.
As your data grows, these connectors are built to scale alongside it — providing high-throughput, reliable access without becoming the bottleneck.
A More Seamless Experience Across Alteryx One
Performance was only half the goal. We also set out to simplify how analysts and administrators manage connections across the platform.
The new connectors deliver a more unified experience across Alteryx One. If you are an administrator, you no longer need to manage multiple connector versions across Designer Desktop and Designer Cloud. If you are a data analyst, you now have a more consistent way to access the data you need to do your job.
Integration with Data Connection Manager centralizes governance and credential management, while guided OAuth setup makes authentication easier and more intuitive.
Troubleshooting is also simpler. More granular logging provides deeper visibility into connector behavior, helping teams pinpoint issues quickly and reduce downtime.
And if your environment follows the API contract (requires 25.1+), you can adopt these new connectors without changing existing workflows — enabling smoother upgrades without disruption.
Getting Started Is Easy
Upgrading takes just a few steps:
- Confirm your environment is running 2025.1 or later.
- Download the new connector versions from the Alteryx Marketplace or from the Add-Ons panel in Designer.
- Use the built-in Migration Utility to transition workflows
- Validate and run with improved performance
The Migration Utility streamlines the process, minimizing manual effort and reducing risk.
Modern cloud strategies demand a modern integration layer. With the new Google Drive and Microsoft SharePoint connectors, you gain the speed, consistency, and scalability needed to capitalize on your cloud data investments — today fully and as they continue to grow.
