Conditional File Browse Tool

Hi there,

I'm trying to create an analytic app where one option allows the user to select two files, but the other option only needs one file.

My issue here is that the file browse tool doesnt seem to work if you don't have a file selected... And we can't put interface tools in a control container to disable when the other option is selected.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi @barrymoe depending on the option in the Action tool connected to the File Browse Interface tool you can deselected the Option required. I mocked up and example that regardless of Option selected won't error and will accept the file the user selects.

Deselection the Required option is probably the best way to go as mentioned by @JosephSerpis. Just to put it out there though, another option is to do away with action tools and use dynamic inputs coupled with the input constants instead.

I use the Question constants and a formula tool to feed dynamic inputs instead of an action tool updating an input tool. I can then use control containers to decide which part of the flow will run.

Can you make the difference be handled upstream where the user selects a value that goes into a Filter tool instead. Then you can connect the filter tool to one of two control containers that handle the variability after your user makes their selection?

Well the issue is if i use two file browse tools, the automation wont even start..

So It won't start unless every "potential" file browse tool has something selected... Even though sometimes there is only one file.

Using the filter as the User Selection would still require them to upload two files.

Ah, yes, I understand the distinction better and you're right about the File Browse Tool. Hmmm, let me keep thinking on this. I'm sure others will jump in here as well. -Jay
