I’m Harmandeep Singh Kandhari and I’m working in the Designer Cloud discussion category and experiencing slow workflow execution along with intermittent data source connection failures in Alteryx Designer Cloud. Are there best practices for optimizing performance and maintaining stable connections with large datasets?

Could you please let us know the data source you are using? What size is it and what connectors are you using? Also, apply the Filter tool, Select tool, and other filters as close to the input as possible to remove unused columns. The fewer rows/fields you are working with, the faster everything is in your workflow.

Also, if your data is in a cloud source, please use in-database or SQL-style steps (like SQL Transform) so the heavy lifting runs where the data actually is. This avoids pulling full tables into the workflow. If you’re uploading big files into the workspace, consider keeping data in the source system and reading only what you need. Please run the workflow to get results on performance, flow, etc. The results grid can show only a sample during design; run the job to confirm true performance and output.

Please check the stability of your connections as well. Check for timeouts and confirm if you have a stable authentication. Reduce long-running queries by breaking the workflow into smaller stages as well. It will help you pinpoint which section is taking longer than others.
