Has anyone gotten PDFTools to work with R-4.4.0. The tool used to work for me fine on earlier versions of R, but it looks like this is the version that comes installed with 2025.2 and 2025.1. Any ideas?
Hi @EKasminsky,
You are likely trying to install R packages in a corporate environment and running into firewall issues, just like I did for many years. After hundreds of tabs of research, I am glad to share this Analytic App with you, which should solve the problem you are having. Please make sure to follow all the instructions on the page: R and BioConductor Package Downloader
You might come across errors if the mirrors are not all synchronized at the time of running the Analytic App. In that case, I would recommend that you either wait a few hours and try running the Analytic App again, or follow the instructions found on the download page of the Analytic App for each dependency of the package you would like to install. As I am currently away from my computer, I'm not able to help with any errors for a few days, which is why I recommended the solutions I just mentioned, but please make sure to post the screenshots of the errors you come across, as I might be able to make recommendations for the solutions of these problems once I have access to my computer.
This seems helpful but it looks like the packages "Rcpp" and "pdftools" just are not available for this version of R. Do you know if I can go back to an earlier version of R?
They are in fact available for this version of R (R-4.4.0), but since the firewall is blocking your R instance from obtaining the package information, R does not know it is available. Additionally, it is not possible and not recommended to go to an earlier version of R if the R installation is part of another program, in this case Alteryx Designer.
As I recommended in my previous message, please follow the instructions provided and download the Analytic App from the link provided in the message. After trying that, please let me know if your problem is still not solved.
