Alteryx Server Migration

Hi All,

We have an Alteryx Server running on version 2024.1 with user managed SQL DB

The Server will be decommissioned soon, so I need to migrate the Alteryx Server (workflows, schedules, users everything) to a new Server (VM) with user managed SQL DB

If we take a snapshot backup of current Server and restore it in new Server, will it work? 

Or we need to take a backup of Runtime Settings and SQL Database and restore in new Server?

What will be the best approach, Need proper guidance.

As you have a User Managed SQL DB, that stores all your contents of the server, but not the dependencies, settings or metadata of the server.

You will need Runtime Settings etc for the Server/Gallery setup info, otherwise you'll have to set all that up from scratch. I don't advise just copying things and hoping though.

This is a process that should be given the right amount of time. In the runtime settings, there will be ID's etc that may be relevant to the current machine. When you go through System Settings on a server and commit the results at the end, that will build out RuntimeSettings.xml with the relevant info.
