I recently updated to Version: 2025.1.1.27 and I can no longer copy/paste in chunks of workflow from one Alteryx workflow to another. I have tried using both the keyboard shortcuts and clicking on Copy/ Paste in Edit.
Melissa - I may have found the root cause. Are you by any chance using Citrix on your machine? I was using it to access another application i don't have installed locally. Once i closed out of all Citrix windows including background processes (need to go to the Task Manager and end all citrix related processes). Once i did that, copy and paste within Designer worked again.
I suspect that Citrix is hijacking the clipboard and taking access away from Alteryx
@vi_lam1901 it worked for me just fine in that same version... what error are you getting?
I would suggest restarting your machine / check if you really copied (sometimes the CTRL key + C key may not be working because it’s a hardware problem or maybe you didn’t click CTRL key) / reinstalling Alteryx as a last resort.
if all else fails, submit a ticket to Alteryx support and they can assist.
I'm able to copy chunks within the workflow but unable to paste. neither ctrl+v nor Edit> Paste works
This is a unique problem indeed... it is the first time I hear of such a thing.
Just to confirm, is your copy paste working outside of Alteryx?
yes my copy paste works fine in other apps. it's just Alteryx that's giving me this issue.
I would suggest logging a ticket to Alteryx support then. Because I don’t think there’s a setting control that disables copy pasting on Alteryx, so I doubt you activated it by accident too.
I suppose you can also try reinstalling Alteryx or downgrading a version to see if it still persists.
It kind of resolved itself after I restarted the application a couple times. I think the new version is just super buggy and unpredictable.
I am also experiencing intermittent issues with the copy/paste functionality no longer working in Alteryx. It weirdly comes and goes, regardless of which version I am using. Only started happening within the last few weeks like j1fergu mentioned. Has anyone been able to find the crux of this issue?
Having the same issue as j1ergu and hankirby. Issue seems to come and go (tried the 2023 version as well, same issue). Clipboard is working fine in other applications. Has anyone had success with Support? I have a ticket outstanding currently but they haven't made any progress.
Another user and I are having the same issue with Copy/Paste not working. Although other users under the same version at our company can Copy/Paste like normal. Clipboard also working fine everywhere but Alteryx. Support had me uninstall, remove all Alteryx program files from my computer, then reinstall the latest version. This fixed the issue for that single time of logging in only. Every time since then I have run into the same issue of not being able to copy/paste. It is unreasonable to have to completely remove the program to be able to use such a basic function. I have tried restarting Alteryx multiple times, double checked all settings, read through all the articles, and nothing has fixed it permanently.

Initial right click displays all normal options, and able to select "copy"Secondary right click to paste only gives the following options:
Zoom
Insert
Find Tool
using keyboard controls is no different.
