When an artisan moves positions (within or external) away from their current responsibilities, their collections and workflows should be able to be transferred via an administrator to another user.
Hi @MarqueeCrew , thanks for the idea! This idea is part of a larger request around asset migration or transfer of ownership. This is something fundamental that we plan to account for down the road. Please keep the ideas coming as they help validate our plan.

Just posting a method proposed by Alteryx Support which may help some others who have stumbled across this post looking for a simple solution...
Officially there isn't any functionality currently available to move workflows between studio's/subscriptions. However, the development team did see a need to be able to do this in some circumstances. As such there is an unofficial function that will move the workflows given very specific criteria. Specifically the following most be true for this to occur.
If all of the above conditions are met when the user is moved then all workflows in the subscription will also be moved. The process is not reversible as the workflows will be merged into the existing studio, and this process is all or nothing so there is no way to split the workflows back out.
Again, this is not an official way to move it, more of an unintentional workaround that may work for you/your user.
(and be able to keep the history of the workflow(s) in question with the transfer)
(and be able to reverse any moves w/o an act of god)
(and please & thank you)
@MarqueeCrew This idea is still in the works here at Alteryx. We hope to have a feature like this in the near future. Thanks for your patience.
Being able to manage assets in a gallery as a gallery admin is an absolute must. This would include moving assets between subscriptions (including schedule ownership). Example: Tableau server has a "Change Owner" option available on workbooks, etc.
This functionality is needed - we have many consultants who come and go and we want to make sure their workflows are transferred to either a permanent employee or another consultant.
Employees come and go (consultants too). Therefore, a user-centric app like the Alteryx Gallery has to account for that.
This idea is "Accepted" and 4 years old. Can we get an ETA from Alteryx for this? Maybe a 2022.X release?
Can the Mongo database be updated to teleport workflows from one user to another?
The way workflow documents are stored in MongoDB, you're playing with fire. From what I can gather, if the workflow and associated files are big, it'll be chunked into smaller pieces and stored as multiple documents in several other collections. This is better solved with Alteryx providing a solution that fixes this problem.

A concept that can solve the world's problems but works great everywhere inside of a lab.
seems like this request has been made for years. Still nothing on this or did I miss an update?
I'm happy to announce that as of Alteryx Server's 2024.1 release, curators can now transfer ownership of workflows and schedules individually and in bulk via the Server UI and APIs! Curators can transfer workflows between users even if the users are in different studios, and when a workflow is transferred, it will move to the new owner's studio. When workflows are transferred between users, the version history will be retained as well.
We also added two new APIs for curators to transfer asset ownership.
These are our first steps at improving our transfer options and we will continue to improve them in the future. For more information, please check out the links below, and if you would like to suggest more transfer features, please submit a new idea and we will check it out!
