SQL driver for Alteryx's input tool necessary?

In a couple of Workflows I'm using the input tool and connect to a database.

This works fine but i'm getting a issue with 1 of the databases that it doesn't want to connect properly 

so i'm looking a the workflow and I noticed that i'm using a realy old version. because I don't know a lot about SQL drivers in general I was wondering:

does it matter that for example SQL driver version 3.xx is installed instead of for example version 16.xx (or 17 might be the latest)

hi @MartWClimber  it would be recommended to use the drivers suggested in the help documentation https://help.alteryx.com/2021.1/DataSources/SQLServer.htm

This ensures optimal performance with the Alteryx platform, and relevant support can be initiated if necessary
