Tableau 10 RoadshowThe Tableau 10 Roadshow kicked off this week in Seattle and Houston. I enjoyed presenting in the Alteryx breakout session on how customers such as Audi, Adidas, and The Home Depot are using Tableau and Alteryx together to have a massive impact on their organizations.

My favorite part of our session is about “what it means to you.” We show how customers are able to cut their data preparation time by 90% with Alteryx. What this means for the data analyst is that they can automate their data preparation process, enabling them to serve more users, and to drive more Tableau usage within their organization. But it also means that they are free to spend more time in Tableau visualizing their data, and getting the deeper insights that are possible with Tableau. These data analysts are able to make the huge insights that save millions of dollars.

For instance, at Audi, they had industry data that was showing a competitor was selling a huge number of units in a market segment that Audi did not serve. Because their data analysts had automated most of their data preparation, they had the time to dig into this and look at the data more deeply. While marketing and engineering were gearing up for a new introduction into the segment, the analysts visualized some new data in Tableau and found that the new segment was a failure, and the competitor was slashing prices to dump inventory. They were able to halt the new product introduction, saving millions of dollars.

Everyday we have customers who talk about how using Tableau and Alteryx has changed their life. Cathy Bridges of Motorcar Parts of America credits Tableau and Alteryx for her promotion:

Tableau and Alteryx get people out of the mundane process of data preparation and into the deep insights of data visualization. Michelle Leonard of Consumer Reports felt that she was spending her life working with data to clean it and shape it. She was able to automate her data processes and spend more time in Tableau, providing the insights to her executive team through Tableau visualizations. As Michelle said, “With Tableau and Alteryx, I have a seat at the table.”

Come hear our session at the Tableau 10 Roadshow events next week in Chicago and New York. We’ll share a ton of customer stories about their analytics use cases, and see how you can change your life as a data analysts, driving the deeper insights your organization needs.
