Inspire 2016 is in full swing this week in San Diego. Attendees are excited to embrace this year’s theme of i.am.analytics, training sessions are packed and the sponsor area is bustling with attendees interested in new capabilities and ideas. In addition, day One of the Business Leader track ended with enthusiasm. We had a fantastic line-up of speakers today including JPMorgan Chase, Walmart, Hyatt, and Western Union.

If you missed some of these sessions, don’t worry - all of the slides and the session recordings will be available, but below is a brief snapshot of what was covered today.

Jason Mack from JPMorgan Chase started off the Business Leader track sessions on a high note! He presented on leveraging Alteryx to break down organizational silos to unify disparate marketing data sources, and deliver comprehensive insights on customers and campaign performance via Tableau dashboards to business leaders. Particularly insightful was how Jason is using Alteryx to empower his team of marketing analysts with capabilities that would take traditional IT projects months or years to deliver. Imagine being able to rapidly blend data from multiple source systems to develop a cross-channel holistic customer view and then deliver actionable insights to marketers in hours or days. Time-savings galore!

The track continued with a 1-2 punch. Sanjiva Srivastava and Raphael Rose of Walmart presented on how the world’s largest brick-and-mortar retailer is using Alteryx to attack two separate but related areas of people and compensation analytics. The U.S. Compensation team is leveraging Alteryx and Tableau to create sensitivity cost models that provide fact-based recommendations to executive leadership. This is just one example of the many projects they have implemented to better understand their employees.

What happens when one of the leading international hotel operators uses analytics to identify and target their most profitable clients and expand relationships and share of business? $25M of additional revenue - that’s what happens! SriHari Thotapalli, Director of Customer Data Management at Hyatt Corporation shared how Hyatt leverages spend data, purchase behavior, and preferences of corporate clients to empower Hyatt's global sales force with a 360-degree customer view, to identify cross-sell/upsell opportunities, and to target “like” customers to increase profitability.

Cyber Security is a big deal. Erik Miller, Senior Systems Engineer – Cyber Security Analytics for Western Union, shared how Western Union is using Alteryx to build an extensive risk analytics program covering multiple threat vectors across Western Union's environment. Erik showed how Alteryx enabled his team to take 36 input files from six different sources that initially took over 100 hours per month to blend and turn that data blending process into a 5 ½ minute workflow, with only a 2 ½ hours development timeframe! Now Western Union is able to spin out data every which way in minutes instead of hours, allowing them to use analytic insights to rapidly make decisions on cyber security issues.

In addition to these awesome presentations, we also heard from ZS Pharma and DeepRoot on how they are using Alteryx to improve analytics for their organizations.

Tomorrow's sessions include another impressive line-up of cross-industry speakers including Ford, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Southwest Airlines, and Chick-fil-A.

I look forward to seeing you!
