Our new "cookbook" series describes the struggles analysts face in certain industries or with certain tools, and illustrates a step-by-step "recipe" to use Alteryx to solve these specific problems or needs.7 Steps to Successful Data Blending for Excel Today we are introducing our second cookbook, “7 Steps to Successful Data Blending for Excel”.

Many analysts rely on Excel for everything – from numerical analysis and financial calculations to data blending and analytics. Let’s face it – Excel is great for many things, but it does struggle with heavy data processing, data blending, and more advanced analytics. Many of our customers struggled with this on a daily basis before they discovered Alteryx. We understand that Excel will never be replaced in any organization, but there are areas where analysts can use Alteryx to speed and simplify some of the cumbersome tasks they are currently trying to do in Excel. Much of this revolves around:

  • Working with multiple sources of disparate data
  • Reformatting or restructuring large datasets
  • Blending data without relying on VLOOKUP expressions or other formulas
  • Automating and repeating complex processes

Alteryx provides an intuitive workflow for data blending and advanced analytics that helps analysts move past the time consuming struggles of Excel, reducing the time to business insight. This new cookbook shows how you can become more successful when blending data for Excel.

I've read some posts on the community related to getting data from Excel files, writing back etcetera which is very useful...

But couldn't find anything similar to what SAS, Microsoft or Revolution R does like an add-in to use several features

without starting up Alteryx but running it in the background...

Is there a plan to go this way? It would quickly integrate most Excel users into Alteryx seemlessly...
