Incorrect comparison output

In a nutshell.  I'm completing a reconciliation between two datasets.

  • Column A vs Column B = Variance column
  • Both columns have been formatted to V String 255
  • Where column A had 'visually' empty cells they come through as [null]
  • Where column B had 'visually' empty cells they come through as what look to be blanks
  • I have chucked the cleansing tool over the columns and asked to remove null rows and columns and replace with blanks and/or 0
  • Obviously in this instance we are dealing with string
  • However even after this the variance column returns an error when Column A & B are visually empty.

What am I doing wrong here?  To clarify the variance formula I have in place is purely IF column A = B then 'Ok' else 'Error'  The formula seems to be working where the two fields match.

Ignore.  Worked it out myself.

@BenMurrells could you post the answer in case other people have the same issue?

Quite simple really.  Place your cleansing tool before the variance calculation takes place.  Not after. 😃
